[wptab name=’Italiano’]Prima dello show tenutosi domenica scorsa al Summerfield Music Festival, ho scambiato quattro chiacchiere con il simpaticissimo cantante Jocke Berg.
– Ciao Jocke! Bentornato in Italia!
– Ciao, grazie!
– Penso che l’Italia vi ami…
– Lo penso anch’io!
– …e anche voi amate l’Italia…
– Sì, certo, gli italiani sono sempre stati gentili con noi, l’Italia è praticamente la nostra seconda casa. Siamo stati qui davvero tante volte. Il fratello di Adde vive a Modena, effettivamente abbiamo molte cose che ci collegano all’Italia.
– Non è passato molto tempo dall’ultima volta che siete stati qui. Era Luglio ed è stato a Pistoia, è stato un bello show?
– Sì, è stato bello, soprattutto gironzolare in giro per la città, perché è molto antica…sai..
*Facciamo veramente fatica a parlare, perché fuori sta suonando uno dei gruppi d’apertura e intorno a noi ci sono musicisti che si svestono, parlano, bevono..*
– Quello che mi colpisce ogni volta è la vostra immensa energia, quella che sprigionate dal palco mentre suonate…da dove viene fuori?
– In realtà non ne ho idea… è qualcosa che ti piglia… quando sali sul palco… puoi anche essere stanco o annoiato prima, ma quando parte l’intro c’è qualcosa che ti afferra, non so cosa sia, ma c’è. Grazie a dio!
– Avete suonato in giro per tutto il mondo, avete aperto i concerti di AC/DC e Motorhead…qual’è il tuo tour preferito?
– Devo dire l’ultimo tour che abbiamo fatto negli Stati Uniti insieme a Michael Monroe… un tour davvero figo da headliner, è stato uno dei migliori… perché siamo mancati dagli States per un bel po’. Abbiamo venduto migliaia di biglietti a New York… mancavamo lì da 10 anni, quindi è stato un successo. Mi è davvero piaciuto.
– Da cosa traete inspirazione?
– L’ispirazione arriva dalle persone che incontriamo, dalle cose che ci succedono in tour, non siamo una band rigida, tutti partecipano alla composizione, quindi non abbiamo modo di battibeccare a riguardo… possiamo scrivere di draghi, maghi e cose così, tutte le cose buffe che ci capitano.
– Quali sono i vostri progetti per il futuro?
– Faremo qualche altro concerto questo autunno, poi cominceremo a scrivere il nuovo album che uscirà in primavera. Quindi faremo un tour e torneremo ancora in Italia!
– Cosa pensi riguardo a cover bands e tribute bands? Ce ne sono un sacco qui in Italia…
– Ci sono un sacco di band che suonano i nostri pezzi… adoro questa cosa, perché significa che hai fatto qualcosa di significativo, e sono molto orgoglioso quando vedo queste band… è un onore!

“Yeah, of course, Italy has always been kind with us, it’s almost like our second home. We’ve been here so many times. Adde’s brother lives in Modena, so we got a lot of connections with Italy.”
“You’ve been here not a long time ago. You were here last July, in Pistoia, was it a good show?”
“Yeah was nice to walk around that city, because it’s old, ancient…you know…”
“What always kills me is your great energy, the energy you spread while you’re playing on stage…where it comes from?”
“I don’t know actually… it’s something that (rips?) you… when you go on stage… you can be tired before, but when the intro goes on there’s something that grabs you, I don’t know what it is, but… it’s there. Everytime. Thank god!”
“You’ve been playing all around the world, you supported AC/DC, Moorhead…what’s your favorite tour?”
“I must say the last tour we did in the us now together with Michael Monroe…a cool headline tour, that was one of the best, actually… because we missed the US for a long time. We sold thousands tickets in New York… we haven’t been there for ten years, so was very successful. I really liked that.”
“What does inspire your music?”
“We always get inspiration from people we meet, things that happen to us during tours, we’re not a political band(?) at all, we can’t fight about that… so we can write about dragons, wizards… or so on… funny stuff that we’ve been through.”
“What are your plans for the future?”
“We’re gonna do a couple more shows this fall and then we’ll begin writing the new album that will come out next spring. We will go on tour then and come back to Italy!”
“What do you think about cover bands and tribute bands? Here in Italy there are many of those kind of bands…”
“There are many bands that cover our songs… I love it, ’cause it means that you’ve done something that actually means something, and I’m very proud when I see those bands… it’s a honor!”
