Iced Earth’s European tour goes on and on, in support of their latest album “Incorruptible” and celebrating their 30th anniversary. After the gig in Novara, we didn’t miss the chance of seeing them again abroad, a few kilometres away, in the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana.

Italian version

Opening for the American band we find two Slovenian ones, thrashers Eruption and Metalsteel with their heavy style which, despite some acoustic problems and not-so-well sound balance, managed to warm the audience pretty well. Shortly after 10PM, Iced Earth come on stage: unfortunately, the audio problems are still there (pretty unusual given the high standards of the venue) and the sounds are pretty muddy already at the beginning. This is a major disadvantage especially for singer Stu Block, able to stand out only on high notes, a real pity for such an expert and talented frontman. Despite this annoying issue, Jon Schaffer and his mates delivered a fantastic and captivating performance, with their most known song “Watching Over Me” dedicated to the late Vinnie Paul. And as cherry on top of the cake, the band also played an unexpected “Pure Evil”, ending the concert just before midnight and leaving, in spite of everything, a satisfied audience.
